Searching for a Committee

You can access the Committee Search page to search for and view a Committee and its filings.

Tasks

To access the Committee Search page:

Then...

Access the page from the menu bar...

  1. Click the search tab in the menu bar.

 

The Search the Campaign Finance Database page is displayed.

 

  1. Click the committee search link.

 

The Committee Search page is displayed.

Access the page from the left navigation menu...

  1. Click the + to the left of the Search section in the left navigation menu.

 

The Search section is expanded. To hide the information, click the - to the left of the section.

 

  1. Click the committee search link.

 

The Committee Search page is displayed.

 

To search for a Committee:

 

  1. Enter search criteria into one or more fields. Tip icon To access additional search criteria, click the advanced search link.

 

  1. Click the search button.

A single record matches the search criteria...

The Committee Detail page is displayed for that record.

 

Perform the steps for Viewing Committee Detail.

More than one record matches the search criteria...

The search results are displayed in the Search Results data grid. Tip icon If the search results exceed the page's display limit, you can click a page number at the bottom of the grid to view additional results.

Then...

Export the search results to a CSV Comma-Separated Values. A format in which data in a file is separated by a comma. This format is used for importing and exporting data. file...

  1. Click the CSV icon CSV image.

 

The File Download dialog box is displayed.

 

  1. Click the save button.

 

The Save As dialog box is displayed.

 

  1. Navigate to the folder where you want to save the file.

 

  1. Click the save button.

 

The search results are exported to a CSV file and saved to the location you specified. The export is limited to 20,000 records. The Download Complete dialog box is displayed.

 

  1. Click the close button to close the dialog box.

Export the search results to an Excel spreadsheet...

  1. Click the Excel icon .

 

The File Download dialog box is displayed.

 

  1. Click the save button.

 

The Save As dialog box is displayed.

 

  1. Navigate to the folder where you want to save the file.

 

  1. Click the save button.

 

The search results are exported to an Excel file and saved to the location you specified. The export is limited to 20,000 records. The Download Complete dialog box is displayed.

 

  1. Click the close button to close the dialog box.

Export the search results to a PDF file...

  1. Click the PDF icon PDF icon.

 

The File Download dialog box is displayed.

 

  1. Click the save button.

 

The Save As dialog box is displayed.

 

  1. Navigate to the folder where you want to save the file.

 

  1. Click the save button.

 

The search results are exported to a PDF file and saved to the location you specified. The export is limited to 20,000 records. The Download Complete dialog box is displayed.

 

  1. Click the close button to close the dialog box.

Print the search results...

  1. Click the Print icon Print icon.

 

The output is displayed on your screen and the Print dialog box is displayed.

 

  1. Adjust the settings as necessary and click the print button.

 

The search results are sent to the specified printer and the Print dialog box is closed. The output is limited to 1,000 records.

 

  1. Click the back link to return to the Candidate Search page.

View a Committee...

  1. Click the link in the Committee Name column of the data grid for the Committee you want to view.

 

The Committee Detail page is displayed for the selected record.

 

  1. Perform the steps for Viewing Committee Detail.

Change the search criteria...

Click the change criteria button.

 

No records match the specified search criteria...

The system displays an error message.

 

Click the reset button to clear the search criteria and perform another search.
